SUST Alum Rebecca Quesnell (BA ’15) Talks Recycling in Chicago Tomorrow, Oct. 3rd

Prof. Mike Bryson’s SUST 240 Waste class is honored to host a special guest speaker tomorrow, Oct. 3rd, at 3:30pm: Rebecca Quesnell (BA ’15), the Sustainability Coordinator at Independent Recycling Services in Chicago. “Beeka,” as she’s known far and wide, will give a presentation on her work, how it figures into the recycling scene here in Chicago, and the career path she took to her current position. Her presentation is scheduled for 3:30pm in WB 1215 at RU’s Chicago Campus.

Additional seats are available for anyone in the RU community who’d like to crash our class and get the real dope on recycling in our fair city. Since space is limited, though, kindly RSVP to Mike Bryson ( to let him know you’re coming!

Prior to her current position at Independent, Beeka served as RU’s first Sustainability Operations Coordinator in the summer of 2015, a position she held in the Department of Physical Resources through the summer of 2016; and she was co-leader of the STARS Reporting Team in the fall of 2015. She co-presented with Prof. Bryson at the SENCER 2016 Summer Institute (held for the first time at RU) a talk entitled “Transformative Sustainability: STARS, SENCER, and the Future of the University,” and was recognized with the SUST Outstanding Student of the Year award in 2015.
