Tomorrow afternoon at Roosevelt’s Chicago Campus, the Sustainability Studies Program will host a very special guest lecture, “Environmental Racism in Historical Perspective,” by Dr. Carl Zimring, former RU professor and SUST program co-founder. Dr. Zimring will discuss and sign his groundbreaking new book, Clean and White: A History of Environmental Racism in the United States.
Please join the students in SUST 340 Policy, Law, & Ethics for this extraordinary presentation at 3:00pm in Roosevelt’s LEED Gold Wabash Building, 425 S. Wabash Ave., room 1214. The event will be videoconferenced live for those who cannot attend in person (see below for details).
Dr. Carl Zimring is an urban environmental historian joining us from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, where he is Associate Professor of Sustainability Studies. An expert on waste management and recycling processes and policies, Dr. Zimring’s new book examines the historical connections between race and waste, and the worldviews which continue to influence environmental racism today. Learn more about Clean and White, as well as his other writing projects, by visiting Zimring’s blog.
You may RSVP your plans to attend to Professor Mike Bryson at firstname.lastname@example.org. The lecture is free and open to the public.
