SUST Program Co-founder Dr. Carl Zimring to Give Special Guest Lecture at RU on Tue, Mar. 15

Clean and White imageThe Sustainability Studies Program is proud to host a special guest lecture, “Environmental Racism in Historical Perspective,” by former Roosevelt professor and Sustainability Studies Program co-founder Dr. Carl Zimring on Tuesday, March 15 in Roosevelt’s LEED-Gold Wabash Building. Dr. Zimring will discuss and sign his groundbreaking new book, Clean and White: A History of Environmental Racism in the United States.

CarlZimringGlasgow-300x276Dr. Carl Zimring is an urban environmental historian, joining us from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, where he is Associate Professor of Sustainability Studies. An expert on waste management and recycling processes and policies, Dr. Zimring’s new book examines the historical connections between race and waste, and the worldviews which continue to influence environmental racism today.
