Here’s something for folks interested in the intersection of sustainability and the hospitality industry.
According to RU Hospiality/Tourism Prof. Bill Host (email@example.com), there are number of opportunities for student involvement:
1. We currently have seven students phoning Chicago based businesses identified by the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau as those who are involved in sustainable aspects of, and supply the meetings industry. Through a cooperative effort with the Chicago bureau and GMIC a mobile app is being created by the bureau for use by Chicago visitors to identify those companies who practice sustainable methods. Roosevelt students have been contacting Chicago based catering operations, for example).
2. Scholarships up to $1,000 are available for students to attend the conference.
3. Student volunteers are needed to work the conference (registration, room monitors, human arrows (wayfinding), “go-fors”, etc. )Details for volunteers are being developed. Interested students can contact our Grad Assistant Keith Huffman at firstname.lastname@example.org — just fill out and return check out this volunteer form (pdf)
4. AND the conference is offering a “Future Leaders Forum” of special one-day programming on Sunday, April 7 which is open to fifty students – the forum appears to focus mostly on “understanding of sustainable event issues and impacts in context to meeting planning from a global perspective.”
