Roosevelt Hosts 4th Annual Greener South Loop Awards Event, Garners “Greenest University” Recognition

On Nov. 29th, 2012, the Fourth Annual Greener South Loop Awards Event was held at Roosevelt University’s new Wabash Building. The event brings together institutions, organizations, businesses, and people in the South Loop area of Chicago who are working on a huge variety of sustainability/green initiatives.  As the Alliance for a Greener South Loop notes,  the event “recognized and celebrated the green, greener, and greenest amongst us. Congratulations and Thank You — to each and every one of [the] award winners for their contributions to a greener South Loop.”Greener_Awards_Logo


Greenest: Roosevelt University, 425 S. Wabash
Greener: Old St. Mary’s School, 1474 S. Michigan


Greenest: Overflow Coffee Bar, 1550 S. State St.
Greener: Urban Re-mix, 1468 S. Michigan
Green: Well Future Pharmacy, 1442 S. Michigan


Greenest: Dearborn Tower Condominium Association, 1530 S. Dearborn St.
Greener: State Place Condominium Association, 1101 S. State St.
Green: Transportation Building Condominium Association, 600 S. Dearborn St.

2012 Green Heroes:

Alex Borgen (graduate student, Columbia College Chicago)
Maria Lawrence (director, South Loop Early Childhood Center).

Event sponsors included Columbia College Chicago, Forth Group, Nissan NEXT/Leaf, ORA Dental Studio, Roosevelt University, and South Loop Neighbors. Judges of the awards were Gayle Levine (LEED AP), Joe Leamanczyk (LEED AP), Dr. Steven Koos (ORA Dental Studio), and Scott Seger (Forth Group).
