Illinois Enacts Expansion of Laws Encouraging Renewable Energy Development

Late last month, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed a pair of laws that may encourage expansion of consumer access to renewable energy.

One allows townships to purchase energy in groups, just like municipalities and counties in Illinois already can. Another protects “net metering,” where customers who produce their own renewable energy can sell excess power back to a provider.

Energy production and distribution issues are examined in this semester’s downtown offering of SUST 310 Energy and Climate Change.  If you are interested in enrolling in one of our courses, find out more by visiting our Sustainability Studies website, calling 1-877-277-5978 (1-877-APPLY RU) or emailing applyRU@roosevelt.edu.
