Chicago Wins $750,000 Solar Energy Project

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel recently announced news of a new solar energy project.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel was set to announce Saturday that the city has won a $750,000 federal grant to help residents and businesses install solar panels.

The announcement comes from the U.S. Dept. of Energy as part of the Sunshot Initiative Rooftop Solar Challenge.

The city and its solar development partners will begin several projects over the next 12 months.

Some goals include developing solar-ready building standards, developing solar installer certification and a code official training program.
