Fall Sustainability Studies Courses Begin September 12. Spaces Going Quickly!

On September 12, the next wave of Sustainability Studies courses at Roosevelt University will begin. It’s not too late to register for a couple of these seminars, but spaces are going quickly.

They are gone in four of the six classes we are offering this term.  Both sections of the SUST 210 Sustainable Future introductory seminar have reached their capacity and are maintaining waitlists.   If you are interested in taking either the online section taught by Professor Zimring or the downtown section taught Tuesday evenings by Michele Hoffman-Trotter, please contact your advisor about getting on the waitlist.  We cannot guarantee admission, but should any registered students drop, we shall go down the waitlist in order to fill vacancies.

Another course maintaining a waitlist is the first-ever online offering of SUST 310 Energy and Climate Change. Taught by Carla Jones, this is an exciting upper-division seminar that explicitly addresses the environmental problems of our current energy consumption practices.

Finally, the Thursday evening downtown offering of SUST 230 Food, taught by Carolyn Persoon, has also reached capacity and has opened a waitlist.  Again, we cannot guarantee spaces in any of these courses will open, but interested students may join the waitlist in case of changes in the next two weeks.

We have some spaces left in two of our seminars.  Professor Mike Bryson offers SUST 220 Water as a hybrid course meeting on four Saturdays in Schaumburg (and weekly online).  See this post about water issues for a preview of how the course is organized.  Back downtown, Professor Julian Kerbis Peterhans offers a section of SUST 330 Biodiversity Friday mornings. SUST 330 will once again meet at the Field Museum of Natural History, where students will get hands-on experience helping staff label and classify specimens.

If you are interested in taking courses this fall, please contact your RU academic advisor for registration details and consultations on financial aid options. Registration for this semester is ongoing. If you are not currently a Roosevelt University student, we encourage you to investigate our degree options, and our course listings.
