This Summer, Study Food in Schaumburg and Biodiversity in Chicago

This summer, the SUST Program at Roosevelt is offering two innovative hybrid courses that meet on five Saturdays + online through Blackboard. Both are taught by popular SUST professor Maris Cooke. Register now to reserve your spot!

  • SUST 230 Food — One of our most popular courses, this section meets on Saturday from 10am-4pm from June 1st through 29th, and combines academics with hands-in-the-dirt work and service learning at the newly expanded RUrbanPioneers Community Garden at RU’s Schaumburg Campus. Produce from one of these garden plots will be donated to the nearby Hanover Township Food Pantry. (And check out the RUrbanPioneers Facebook page here.)
  • SUST 330 Biodiversity — An exceptional course to take in Chicago’s beautiful summer weather, this course will run from July 13th through Aug 29th, and will feature field trips to various sites of interest in and around Chicago.
