Call for Submissions: RU Science and Math Symposium
 (Apr 19)

Roosevelt University’s Department of Biological, Chemical and Physical Sciences will hold its second annual Science and Math Symposium on Friday, April 19. This year’s theme is Sustainable Science, emphasizing both research in and applications of the environmental sciences.

Bio and Chem people at RU

We welcome proposals from all students in science and math disciplines for platform presentations and posters, although original research will be prioritized over literature review.
 Proposals may be submitted for:

  • PLATFORM PRESENTATIONS — All student platforms are 15 minutes long with three minutes for questions. Platforms may be on any subject in the fields of science and math. There is a limited number of slots so topics related to environmental fields of inquiry will be given precedence. Platforms will be judged by faculty and the winning student will receive a prize.
  • POSTER PRESENTATIONS — The poster session for the symposium is open to all topics in the fields of science and math. Posters will be judged by faculty and winning students will be awarded prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

Proposals must contain:

  • Each participant’s name, email address, and undergraduate major/minor
  • Type of presentation being proposed.
  • A brief (100-250 word) abstract of the presentation topic.

Proposals are due March 29.
In the event of more proposals than can be accommodated by the schedule, presenters will be notified no later than April 5 of their inclusion in the program.

Email proposals to W. Aaron Shoults-Wilson (wshoultswilson@roosevelt.edu), Assistant Professor of Environmental Science.
