Learn More About Chicago’s Self-Service Bicycle Rental Stations

WTTW’s Chicago Tonight recently ran a segment about B-Cycle, Chicago’s bicycle sharing program. The program includes several kiosks in the city, and in the words of the organization:

Chicago B-cycle is the first bike sharing system in the city of Chicago. We are placing self-service bike rental stations (B-stations) along the Chicago lakefront and loop. Chicago B-cycle members will be able to pick up one of the bikes at any B-station and drop it off at any B-station….

Chicago B-cycle is designed to encourage you to use a B-cycle for all your short trips. Once you’ve paid your modest membership fee, you can take an unlimited number of rides, and there is no charge for the first hour of every ride. If you are visiting and prefer to experience a B-cycle without a membership, purchase a temporary pass at any B-station kiosk. See you on a bike!

Transportation systems, including alternatives to automobiles, are discussed in the Roosevelt seminar SUST 320 Sprawl, Transportation, and Planning.
